I was born and raised in Illinois. After spending nearly two decades in Colorado, my wife and I moved back to be closer to our families. Illinois won't be on anyone's short list of most scenic states. However, as with everywhere I've traveled, I've found that there are photos for those who are open to the idea of finding them wherever they go. This gallery is my effort at showcasing the beauty of a forgotten state.
This is a project that presented itself without any conscious input on my part. Quite often while I'm driving on the prairies and the high plains, if I see nice light, I'll hunt to find some manner of subject to use with that light. The high plains are finding more and more wind turbines popping up, harnessing an energy source that is quite prevalent in those areas. It was only natural that these elegant power producers would find their way in front of my camera. As I found myself photographing them more and more, a project was born out of sheer serendipity.
