The Golden Minute

Photographers like to talk about the “golden hour.” That first hour of light after sunrise and the last hour before sunset is certainly magical. I think I like to take that a step further sometimes and seek out the “golden minute.” This shot is one of those instances.

I looked at the time stamps of this image and one that followed it in which the sun had set behind the Front Range. They were less than two minutes apart. So not quite the last minute of daylight but pretty close. I look forward to these kinds of photographic moments when we start easing back into something a bit less surreal.
