New Work: Grand Ridge Grain Elevator

Another photo from Sunday’s rainy outing. This is the old wood grain elevator in Grand Ridge, IL framed by the newer concrete elevator. When I was working on the map that I discussed in this post, this elevator jumped out as one that I really liked and that I wanted to add to the project as quickly as possible. Many of the Illinois elevators that are on Bruce’s site have been torn down since he photographed them. That gave a sense of urgency for me to get started photographing the wood elevators here. They seem to be disappearing more quickly here than in Colorado.
