On the Trail: Starved Rock State Park

A phone grab from earlier today in Kaskaskia Canyon in Starved Rock State Park. This is one of Illinois’ most popular state parks and had not opened with the rest earlier this month because of the challenges of a popular park and social distancing. Illinois moves into its next phase of the governor’s Covid plan and the park was able to open with some limitations.

While I was worried about going to a busy park on its first open weekend on a perfect weather day, I couldn’t resist the conditions that I hoped would yield good water flow over the waterfalls without too much mud on the trails. And indeed, that is what I got. There were a fair number of people, including several that I wish hadn’t been there but overall it was a good day.

I grabbed a couple of blue hour shots in my hometown of Aurora, too. So a good day all around that I hope will yield some nice shots, even if they’re SPS (standard photographic subjects…a topic for another day).
