Old Trucks and Grain Elevators

One thing I’ve discovered while organizing my Lightroom library is that I really love shooting old trucks while working on my grain elevator project. Old trucks and grain elevators just seem to go together perfectly. Additionally, old trucks are almost always somewhere to be found around a grain elevator. Sometimes they’re only being used as storage. Sometimes they’ve just been abandoned near where they did all of their work in days gone by. Sometimes they’re still in use, many decades after they were built. Whatever the case, they provide a nice foreground subject for these wonderful buildings. Here’s a very hastily put together gallery of trucks I’ve found at elevators (I’m sure I’ll find more as I continue through the library!)

I have a thing for old trucks too – well really, any kind of old vehicle. The shape, color and the patina of an old truck is often so different than what we see on the road today that it makes for a fun subject.

I love the texture of that kind of patina! It really helps tell a story. It’s easy to start imagining years of faithful service of the truck!
